I am sure most all of you have read about the mother of two(2) kids committing, what most would say to be a heinous crime-killing both herself and her two(2) kids, presumptuously over denial of her registration for governmental assistance.
But whose to blame? I have read ample things stating it's the government, it's the father, it's the mother... My take: all three. However, before I get into my evaluation of the situation, let me just make this clear, none of us know all the facts, merely what we've seen in the news. I don't know this woman's mental health, and I don't know this woman.
Having to deal with Social Workers before, I completely understand the lack of communication that can take place, the repeated denials I have seen people get, and their lack of compassion-to some it's just a job with pay check. So having said that- Whose to say that this woman wasn't just broken, at a loss of reaction to all the negative action. I can only imagine that if someone always hears no, or is always looking for help with no prevail, then that takes a beating on someone, mentally.
I can imagine in her last moments she weighed her options, killing only herself leaves her children in Foster Care, leaving the State to make the decision on a safe environment for them-why would she trust them with that decision when they weren't capable in helping her in her situation. Or, better yet, killing only herself and thinking that this leaves her children to survive and grow up thinking "my mom killed herself because we were too much to handle." Or possibly even thinking if she killed only herself she left her kids to deal with the Hell's of Earth alone. Quite possibly she just wanted everyone to not have to suffer, sounds like a bit of a selfish selfless act. Selfish to take lives that are not hers to take, and selfless cause, well, maybe she thought it made sense to her.
It seems like she felt like, family is of no help-my children's father doesn't care-having read that one of those children posted to a very popular social networking site stating their dad hadn't tried to contact them in six(6) years, also reading that the father owed well over $10,000 dollars in child-support-and then finally being unable to get help by utilizing the governmental tools set forth to assist people in need.
I think her heart was heavy and her mind was weak. Not all people handle situations appropriately when dealing with a repetitive situation and continuously getting the same the closed door.
